The next engine name we are going to look at is Albert. He is Victoria’s best friend and they have been together for a very long time.
The real traction engines, Victoria and Albert, use to live together back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, and then again in the 1980’s and on into the 90’s. Sadly the real Albert was sold in the early 2000’s and now lives in France.
Albert was built in 1895, 9 years after Victoria.
Albert got his name from being Victoria’s best friend. When both engines were built Queen Victoria was on the throne, so it only seemed right to name him after the Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert.
He is still called Albert and carries his name badge. You will also notice that in our books he is painted green where as the real life Albert is now black, this is because when the real Albert lived with Victoria he and her were both painted green.
