As a series of articles we thought we would share with you how we name the engines in the Victoria’s Torton Tales books and where their names originated from.
So we should start with the star of the books “Victoria”.
The real “Victoria” was named back in 1980 as “Victoria Empress of India” by her previous owners, Peter and Shirley Fagg. Her name was chosen because at the time “Victoria” the traction engine was built, the Queen of England was Victoria, and she was also the Empress of India.
“Victoria” the traction engine still has her full name on the nameplate on her smokebox at the front of her boiler, but most of her friends just call her “Victoria”.
